With the rapid rise of AI in the workplace, there are growing concerns that machines will take over jobs and leave humans redundant. However, AI is not here to replace us—it’s here to enhance our capabilities, allowing us to focus on higher-level tasks that require human creativity, strategy, and emotional intelligence. This topic seems to be a weekly conversation for me as a Digital Entrepreneur and owner of a Digital Agency, people are mislead that all of this will be no longer useful in the future and “what am I doing to prepare”. I can answer that straight away, embracing it and adapting with it.
AI Isn't New: A Historical Perspective
Artificial intelligence might seem like a new frontier, but it’s actually an evolution of tools that have been aiding industries for decades. For example, when the calculator was introduced in the 1980s, it was met with skepticism, as many feared it would eliminate the need for mathematical skills. However, the calculator became an indispensable tool in education and business, enhancing productivity rather than replacing people. Similarly, computers revolutionized the workplace, despite initial fears. Today, AI stands on the shoulders of such innovations, offering even greater potential to improve our work lives and slowly our home lives too.
Let’s also take a moment to understand AI you are likely already using and have been for years without realising:
- Amazon Alexa
- Apple Siri
- Shazam
- Google Assistant
- Netflix (recommendation algorithm)
- Spotify (Discover Weekly playlist)
- Facebook (facial recognition for tagging photos)
- Gmail (Smart Compose and spam filters)
- Google Maps (route optimisation)
- Tesla Autopilot (semi-autonomous driving)
- Microsoft Cortana
- YouTube (video recommendations)
- Google Translate
- LinkedIn (job recommendations)
- Grammarly (writing assistance)
- Snapchat (AR filters)
- Pinterest (visual search)
- Ring Doorbell (motion detection)
- iRobot Roomba (robotic vacuum
AI Release Milestones
Here are some of the notable AI milestones in recent years:
- DALL-E 2 (OpenAI): Released in April 2022
- MidJourney: Released in July 2022
- ChatGPT (OpenAI): Initially released in November 2022
- Bard (Google AI): Released in February 2023

The next most popular AI tools are Canva, DeepL, Google’s Gemini, and Character AI. These four tools combined only account for 1.632 billion monthly website visits (28.9%), falling well short of ChatGPT’s 54.96% market share.
How to Use AI in Your Work: My favourite AI Tools for Different Tasks
AI tools can boost productivity and streamline processes across many areas. What I would say, as with any tool you use, it’s as good as you give, so the more you use it and understand how to adapt to what you need the better. The best way to get started with a lot of these is to imagine the AI tool is your intern that you are briefing.
Here are some of my favourite AI tools:
Task: Transcribing meetings and interviews.
Favourite AI: Otter AI
How to Use: Otter AI automatically transcribes spoken words into text, which can then be easily reviewed and shared. It’s great for ensuring you don’t miss any important details during meetings or interviews, especially for remote teams.

AI Tools and Business Efficiency
AI tools like Apollo, and ManyChat can enhance sales outreach and customer relationship management by automating repetitive tasks and providing personalised messaging. These tools allow professionals to focus on strategy and creative decision-making, leaving the repetitive, data-driven tasks to AI. Additionally, AI tools can significantly reduce time spent on administrative tasks, enabling employees to dedicate more energy to innovation and strategic planning.
AI's Role in Creative Processes
AI isn’t just for number-crunching and data analysis. Tools like NightCafe, MidJourney, and DALL-E assist in creating unique visual content, enabling designers and marketers to bring their visions to life. However, these tools still require a creative director or a visionary person to prompt them effectively and to understand the desired outcome. The role of the creative professional remains crucial, as they bring the vision and narrative, while AI provides support in execution. AI supports creativity by offering new ways to visualise ideas and generate art that aligns with brand messaging. These tools offer a fresh perspective, helping creatives push boundaries and develop ideas that might not have been possible without technology. This applies to copywriters as well, where AI can assist with drafts and brainstorming, but human expertise is essential to ensure the content resonates authentically. A copywriter brings in the tone of voice, narrative depth, and brand-specific nuances that AI alone cannot replicate. AI is a tool that aids creativity but doesn’t replace the emotional intelligence and personal touch that a skilled writer brings to the table.
AI isn't coming for your job if you don't let it
The fear that AI will replace jobs is based on a misunderstanding of what AI is and how it works. AI in the workplace is a tool that can enhance your capabilities, allowing you to focus on tasks that truly require human ingenuity. By leveraging AI, you can unlock new levels of productivity, creativity, and success. Additionally, AI has the potential to create new job opportunities, as businesses will need professionals who understand how to implement and manage these tools effectively.
